The Air Care Alliance (ACA) is joining with more than 50 volunteer pilot organizations to launch the first-ever Public Benefit Flying Day on July 29, 2022.
Public Benefit Flying is when general aviation pilots use their own aircraft to assist the health and well being of others, ACA officials explain.
“Each year thousands of volunteer pilots provide free flights for health, compassion, and community service,” officials noted. “The pilots donate their time, skills, and all flight expenses for a variety of humanitarian purposes.”
“Volunteer pilots deliver help, hope, and humanity to those in need every single day. Yet few people know that the critical services they provide are available to the public for free,” said Kristinia Luke, executive director for the Air Care Alliance. “Public Benefit Flying Day is an opportunity for us to raise the visibility of this type of service and to celebrate the positive impact that volunteer pilots have on the lives of individuals in need and our communities.”
A number of events are planned nationwide to increase awareness of Public Benefit Flying. ACA is partnering with the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) to celebrate Public Benefit Flying at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2022, which runs from July 25-July 31.
Volunteer pilots at the airshow will gather for a group photo and be recognized throughout July 29.
