Redbird Flight Simulations has added several new features to its Redbird Pro app, including monthly VFR and IFR scenarios and the ability for pilots to log airplane flights and other external training events.
Introduced in February 2022, the app tailors training to the individual needs and goals of a general aviation pilot, company officials said. The app measures a pilot’s performance in nine areas to generate a personalized proficiency plan with articles, quizzes, and flight simulator scenarios that help improve the weakest parts of their flying, they explained.
Since the initial release of the app, the company has added to its content, including the release of multiple training scenarios, skill flights, articles, and quizzes every month.
The training scenarios can be completed in a Redbird training device or as a chair flight guided by an in-app instructor, company officials noted.
External Logging
Also new is the ability to log and receive credit for aviation-related events pilots complete outside the app, such as flights in an airplane, simulated flights completed outside the app (including on devices from other manufacturers), ground training, online courses, seminars, and EAA VMC and IMC Club meetings.

When a pilot logs an external event, the app calculates it into their Pro Score, which the app uses to adjust their personal training plan, Redbird officials said.
“Each feature and piece of training content added to Redbird Pro gives general aviation pilots a clearer picture of their proficiency and helps our algorithm provide better training recommendations,” said Redbird Vice President of Marketing Josh Harnagel.
Redbird Pro is available in the App Store and Google Play Store. The app offers a Visual Pilot subscription (VFR training) for $15.99 a month and an Instrument Pilot subscription (VFR and IFR training) for $19.99 a month. Pilots also have the option to pay annually. Every subscription includes a free 30-day trial.
