New software allows Aspen Avionics‘ Evolution Flight Display to interface with Garmin’s GFC 600 digital autopilot.
Certification paperwork has been submitted and approval is expected in the fall of 2022, Aspen officials reported.
The new Aspen Avionics software, v.2.12, when coupled with Garmin’s GFC 600 autopilot “enhances and expands the basic GFC 600 autopilot function to Aspen’s Primary Flight Display (PFD) and streamlines the controls, reducing pilot workload,” Aspen officials said.
Company officials add that the GFC 600 enhancements include:
- Ability to select Altitude, Vertical Speed and Airspeed on either the PFD or the GFC 600 panel
- Adds flight director capability for coupled autopilot operations
- Fully digital interface eliminates the need for adapter boxes.
The GFC 600 interface software upgrade is priced at $1,995.

Company officials noted that additional 2.12 software features include:
- Extended runway centerlines on multi-function display moving map display
- Selected altitude/airspeed output for Trio autopilots
- Improved auto brightness levels based upon customer feedback.
Will this software be available for the Garmin GFC 500 also. I have an Aspen 2500 panel and want to upgrade my auto pilot to the garmin GFC 500. This would allow me to drive the auto pilot with the 1000 PFD or the 1000 MFD.
The GFC 600 is about $10,000 more than the GFC 500. I am not sure but am willing to bet that for every GFC 600 you will sell you could sell 3 or 4 GFC 500s, and I would also bet that you could get deposits toward the 500 that would help finance the development. I will give you an order now.
Sincerely,
