4AIR has launched a General Aviation Program to enable private pilots to offset the environmental impact of their flight activities.
“We’ve heard from a number of private pilots, as well as people considering taking up flying, that they worry about the impact of their flights on the environment, especially climate change,” said Kennedy Ricci, 4AIR’s president. “Our new program empowers individual pilots to offset the impact of their personal flying by supporting the same kind of large-scale sustainability initiatives previously available only to private travel providers and their passengers.”
The program is designed as a monthly subscription customized to the type of aircraft, the sustainability commitment pilots want to make, and their typical annual hours flown, company officials said.
The program has four levels:
- Level 1 Carbon Neutral: 100% offset of an aircraft’s carbon dioxide (CO2) footprint, typically through carbon credits that fund sustainability projects such as solar power.
- Level 2 Emissions Neutral: 300% offset of an aircraft’s carbon footprint to account not only for CO2 but also for non-carbon emissions that affect the climate, such as soot, water vapor, and nitrous oxides.
- Level 3 Beyond Neutral: 300% offset and 5% actual reduction in emissions through the additional use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) credits.
- Level 4 Climate Champion: A $2 per metric ton of emissions contribution to the Aviation Climate Fund, which supports advances in sustainable aviation technology, ultimately to achieve a goal of Net Zero Flight – no added emissions from flight activities.
Pilots can participate whether they own or rent an aircraft and can include multiple aircraft, company officials add.
I was just thinking about this the other day and I’m really glad to see this. It may not be for everybody, but it’s nice to have options to help do the right thing.
When the coin in the climate coffer rings, you are forgiven for your exhaust emission sins.
Sorry Johann Tetzel. But you were thinking too small.
I’m with Tom S. I want to figure out how to get in on the ground floor of the scam so I can retire as well !!! From a bunch of hypocritical rich celebrities flying around on their jets! as a corporate pilot I do a lot of that but. the earth has been cooling down and warming up since God made it , and carbon from vehicles Isn’t changing it more than a Nats fart. Even Leonard Nimoy did an hour long show in the in the 80s how they all the scientist were predicting an Ice Age within 15 to 20 years 😮
If people just do their own research they’ll know that even one small volcano eruption puts more carbon in the atmosphere than man has done since the Industrial revolution.
My carbon offset are legit. I got them from a Nigerian Prince.
Looks like some con games are legal.
Send me your email and credit card info, and I’ll sell you ‘Enhanced’ carbon offsets
for your airplane.
Enhanced level includes a blueberry muffin and a ‘I help the earth’ t-shirt.
$99.95/ month.
What 💩💩💩
Is there any way I can invest in this scam on the ground floor so I don’t have to work anymore? I want to be the guy all the stupid pilots send money to.
What complete and utter nonsense!!!
So, in a nutshell, this whole business is based on elevating parent-like manipulation of latent, socially-imposed individual guilt to an art form, and then building a subscription model around transference of said guilt? My nascent, inner snake-oil salesman applauds their ingenuity.
The really funny thing is that it may actually work, at least for a while. Based on the recent stories focusing on the reportedly-quite-impressive, private-jet-induced carbon footprints of the rich, famous, and powerful (and all too often ironically-judgmental), this company may have a line of high-profile clients waiting with credit cards in hand. I wonder, does the subscription come with a bespoke get-out-of-climate-guilt card to present to reporters or hecklers when needed? And, does Steven Spielberg have his full-up, guilt-obliterating Level 4 subscription yet? What about Leonardo DiCaprio?
Come to think of it, perhaps the minds behind this company are even more sadistically brilliant than I realized. I mean, could all of the recent, conveniently timed articles about celebs and their private jet habits all be part of a well-planned marketing scheme? I wonder when they will start lobbying lawmakers to make these “expenses” tax deductible?
So basically just another TAX or FEE to make flying even more expensive, less affordable. There is no such thing as Zero carbon emissions with a Jet or combustion engine. This is all theatrics and feel good BS. The climate adapts and the earth went through changes before man and machine existed. Stop trying to fund Solar, wind and all the tax payer funded energy boondoggles that do not produce or pay for themselves. Support Nuclear. Let technology evolve on its own and we the people decide. Do you really want to raise the cost of flying when we already have a pilot shortage? Stop the feel good narrative. Your assisting in your own industries demise. Wake up
scam x 10
Hey, I feel better already!
