The Aviators Model Code of Conduct Version 3.0 has been released.
Developed by the Aviators Code Initiative editorial board, a team of aviation professionals, and drawing upon decades of research and experience, the Aviators Model Code of Conduct (AMCC) recommends operating practices “to enhance the quality and safety of flight operations,” according to officials.
Revisions in Version 3.0 include a general update, enhanced treatment of new technologies, and a response to the increasing presence of uncrewed aircraft, officials report.
“Pilot conduct impacts the entire aviation community, including its safety culture,” organizers said in a prepared release. “A code of conduct can help achieve new levels of proficiency. The AMCC is just such a tool, a set of guidelines adaptable to each pilot and organizational need.”
The AMCC:
- Promotes aviator professionalism and safety, and contributes to the aviation community and society at large
- Encourages ethical behavior, personal responsibility, and good judgment
- Supports improved communications between pilots, regulators, and the aviation industry
The Aviators Model Code of Conduct Version 3.0 is the latest in a family of similar codes, including codes for aviation maintenance technicians, designated pilot examiners, certified flight instructors, glider pilots, gyroplane pilots, helicopter pilots, light sport pilots, seaplane pilots, student pilots, and uncrewed aircraft pilots.
