New owner for Soloy Aviation Solutions

By General Aviation News Staff · January 10, 2023 ·

NorthPoint Aviation has acquired all of the assets of Soloy Aviation Solutions, including the fixed wing, engine, and helicopter STCs, including Tradewind’s converted Beechcraft turbine A36 Bonanzas.

NorthPoint Aviation will continue to provide worldwide support of Soloy’s 25 FAA approved Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) for aircraft fixed wing, helicopter, and aircraft engine STCs, as well as 23 foreign approvals of Soloy Aviation Solutions products, according to company officials. A list of supported STCs can be found on the company’s website at NorthPointAviation.net.

NorthPoint Aviation is a full-service FBO at Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport (KBRD), offering aircraft sales, brokering and acquisition, aircraft maintenance, avionics and instrument repairs and installations, aircraft management, flight training, fuel sales, paint, and interior refurbishments. NorthPoint Aviation manages a certified FAA Repair Station and is a factory approved Cirrus Aircraft and Cessna Aircraft Service Center.

NorthPoint Aviation is the home of the NorthPoint XP470 engine performance upgrade for Cessna 180 or 182 series aircraft (formally P Ponk O-470-50).

NorthPoint Aviation’s flight training department was recently approved as a Cessna Pilots Center for flight training. It also offers factory certified Beechcraft A36 turbine and Cessna 206 turbine initial and recurrent training.

The new owners will continue to operate as Soloy Aviation using the Soloy Aviation website (Soloy.com), and will continue to produce products at Soloy’s location at Olympia Regional Airport (KOLM) in Washington.

Sales, parts, and technical support will be transferred to NorthPoint Aviation’s location in Brainerd, Minnesota.

Soloy was founded by aviation pioneer Joe I. Soloy and his wife Phyllis Soloy in 1969 as Soloy Conversions. In 2019, David Stauffer established 5010Y for the sole purpose of providing uninterrupted support for Soloy products worldwide.

“I am excited to see the restructuring of Soloy Aviation Solutions and am pleased that it will be in the hands of the North Point Aviation team that will continue to provide quality product support and customer service for years to come,” Stauffer noted.
