Talco Aviation Corporation in Aurora, Illinois, has received an FAA STC for the installation of Goodrich Electric Propeller De-Ice Boots on Piper PA-30/PA-39 Twin Comanches equipped with an MT Propeller MTV-12 prop.
According to officials with MT Propeller, the MTV-12 prop with Goodrich Electric Propeller De-Ice Boots installed on the Piper PA-30/39 offers several advantages, including:
- In case of unexpected icing conditions, the aircraft will have unchanged performance from the propellers and less unbalance is expected
- Enhanced takeoff performance by approximately 15%
- Enhanced single engine climb performance by approximately 10%
- Enhanced cruise performance by 2 to 3 knots
The natural composite blades provide “significant inside and outside noise reduction,” add MT Propeller officials, adding the blades have no life limitation and are repairable in case of a FOD.
