Radiant Technology has introduced Geiger Plus, a new Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector for pilots and passengers.
Designed in accordance with FAA published guidelines for strength of CO and color coding, the Geiger Plus includes an additional feature that detects Volatile Organic Compounds, including exhaust and gasoline vapor, via a distinct, blue LED.
This feature enhances pilot safety, “while giving pilots an additional way to detect exhaust leak issues,” company officials said.
Additional features include:
- The CO detector’s aural alarm starts at ~41PPM and changes tone at 100PPM, indicating increasing alarm
- The rechargeable battery gives about six hours of operation, with a 30-minute recharge time from any USB port (to 80% of charge).
Priced at $99.95, the Geiger Plus is available directly from Radiant or through Aircraft Spruce, Gulf Coast Avionics, or Pacific Coast Avionics.
Company officials note that any customer who purchased the older Geiger CO in the last 90 days may receive a no charge upgrade.
Never fly without one and keep an eye on the readings like any other instrument in the airplane.
This is my morning read with great appreciation for the safety articles and the investigative analysis of how to avoid meeting the same fate as the subject pilot !
The experts who weigh in are wonderfully valuable for the most part.
