Textron opens applications for summer internships

By General Aviation News Staff · February 13, 2023 ·

Textron Aviation is offerings summer internships to high school students at its headquarters in Wichita, Kansas, as well as “externship” opportunities for educators.

High School Summer Internships

Summer internships are available to high school students between the ages of 16 and 19. The six-week program, which begins in June and ends July 14, includes part-time paid internships that allow students to learn “about a wide range of exciting career fields and also get paid while doing it,” Textron Aviation officials said.

Applications are due March 17, 2023.

Textron Aviation has offered the high school internships for the past five years. Officials note that some interns “now work full time for the company.”

Externship opportunities for educators

Textron Aviation’s externship program offers “an immersive, experiential learning experience for educators, counselors, administrators, and other individuals who have a direct impact on K-12 students.”

Participants will be taken through the “Design, Build, Fly” process to better understand the path from concept to production and delivery of aircraft, company officials explained.

“This will provide educators with the knowledge to help counsel students in career pathing and beyond,” they noted.
