When the Houston Regional Aviation Professionals group dissolved during the pandemic, Austin resident Jill Case thought business aviation in South and Central Texas still needed a networking platform.
So Case, vice president of managed aircraft sales at Executive Jet Management, and a few of her business aviation contacts, with help from Steve Hadley, the National Business Aviation Association‘s Southwest Central Regional Director, created the South Texas Business Aviation Association (STXBAA).
While the new association is based at Houston Hobby Airport (KHOU), it also covers San Antonio and Austin.
Organizers of the STXBAA used the North Texas Business Aviation Association as a model for their setup, according to Case.
“We want to share best practices and do some good for the community as we raise awareness for our industry,” said Case. “We also want to get youth involved because we know a big issue right now is the pilot shortage and the maintenance tech shortage.”
STXBAA’s official launch event is scheduled for March 23, 2023, at Hobby’s Million Air facility, with a meet-and-greet event scheduled for June 8 in San Antonio.
