Sheltair FBO at KLZU to open in April

By General Aviation News Staff · March 15, 2023 ·

Sheltair Aviation will open its new FBO at Gwinnett County Airport-Briscoe Field (KLZU) in Lawrenceville, Georgia, just north of Atlanta, in April 2023.

Gwinnett County awarded the contract to Sheltair in March 2023 to take over the FBO facilities operated by Gwinnett Aero.

Sheltair officials note they have a 40-year lease on the property and plan to invest $17 million in its new FBO.

“The Airport Authority and Gwinnett County have expressed their goals to improve the level of service and aesthetics of the properties at the airport, and we heard them loud and clear,” said Milo Zonka, vice president of real estate for Sheltair. “This is an important move for Sheltair into the Atlanta metro area, and a large investment commitment to redevelop the significant facilities already onsite — almost 220,000 square feet of hangars — and design and construction of a new FBO and restaurant/office facility will commence shortly.”

KLZU is the third busiest airport in Georgia, with 119,000 takeoffs and landings in 2022, Sheltair officials noted.
