By General Aviation News Staff · May 15, 2023 ·

FORT LAUDERDALE — A new Women in Aviation International chapter, SoFLY Southern Tropics, has taken off.

The new chapter will represent South Florida to the Islands, according to officials, who note the area is home to “many prominent aviation and aerospace companies and organizations.”

“The chapter has generated a large following and interest from all corners of the industry,” added Jessica Matthews, president of SoFLY WAI, including pilots, aviation engineers, maintenance, and airport management, fuel distributors, business aviation, and more.

According to Women in Aviation officials, the WAI chapter network now has 168 chapters in 23 countries.
