Birthplace of Aviation to host FAI conference

By General Aviation News Staff · June 12, 2023 ·

The 117th Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) General Conference will be held in Dayton, Ohio, in 2023.

Organized by the National Aeronautical Association (NAA), this will be the first in-person FAI conference since the COVID-19 pandemic, according to organizers.

During the conference, slated for Oct. 26-27, delegates and dignitaries will meet to consider the future of air sports during collaborative sessions. The conference also will include an awards ceremony.

Since FAI’s founding in 1905, the annual conference has been hosted by the USA four times: In Washington D.C. (1934), Cleveland (1949), and Los Angeles twice (1958 and 1983).

“As a founding member of FAI, the National Aeronautic Association is proud to welcome FAI, for the first time, to the Birthplace of Aviation: Dayton, Ohio,” said NAA President Greg Principato. “The Wright brothers themselves played key roles in both organizations, so it is natural that the aviation world should reconvene in Dayton.”
