The newest general aviation airport in Kentucky, Gallatin County Airport (8GK) in Sparta, is now open for daytime flying.
The airport sports a 5,000 foot runway. CTAF is 122.9.
According to officials with the Kentucky Department of Aviation, right now the airport is just concrete, but fuel is expected to be available in the next few months, while planning is already underway for a terminal and hangars, which are expected to be completed in 2024.
A grand opening of the airport is set for June 28, 2023, at 10 a.m.
Nice
Headed there soon.
How refreshing to learn that an airport has been actually added to aviation rather than shut down and eliminated!
Yes, it is good.
