Picture of the Day: Lunch at S88

Gary Lanthrum submitted this photo — and video — with a note: “Five planes and pilots from Jefferson County International (0S9) in Washington took advantage of the Washington State Department of Transportation Aviation’s early opening of several state airports in the Cascades on May 25, 2023. We had a great flight in to Skykomish State Airport (S88) and a fabulous lunch at the Whistle Stop cafe in town. The planes included two Maules, a Skywagon, a Carbon Cub, and a Cessna 120.”

“The variety of terrain around Puget Sound is unparalleled in the lower 48,” he continued. “Mountains rising from the sea, stunning river valleys, and well-kept grass runways scattered throughout the mountains make this one of the best places for local flying!”
