The new four-bladed Warbird MTV-4-1 propeller from MT-Propeller is now certified by the FAA for use on the Twin Mustang F-82. The propeller can be also installed on the P-51.

The propeller’s power rating is certified up to 2200 shp, according to officials with the German company.

“By designing this brand-new propeller model, MT-Propeller has solved a problem that it is becoming increasingly difficult: Sourcing old airworthy propeller parts to keep these aircraft flying with the original propellers,” company officials said. “The F82 has already accumulated many flying hours with the MTV-4.”

The propeller looks like the original classic propeller, but the blades are made of the natural composite material with an aluminum hub and a steel spline adapter for the #50 spline.

The blades are certified and tested for unlimited life.

The propeller is already type certified by EASA.

MT-Propeller manufactures 30 certified models from two-blade to seven-blade hydraulically controlled variable pitch propellers for engines producing up to 5,000 hp, and two-blade to four-blade electrically controlled variable pitch propellers for engines producing up to 350 hp, as well as two-blade fixed pitch propellers.

The company holds more than 220 STCs worldwide and is an OEM supplier for more than 90% of the European aircraft industry, as well as 30% of the US aircraft industry, according to company officials. More than 30,000 propeller systems with more than 100,000 blades are in service, officials added.
