Oklahoma to invest $316 million in airports

The Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA) unveiled its five-year airport construction plan (ACP) at its March 6, 2024, meeting.

The FY2025-2029 ACP includes 125 projects across the state, including 44 officials call “pro-growth development projects.”

Of the $316 million to be invested, $71.9 million is coming from ODAA, $196 million from the FAA, and $47 million from local matching funds.

The ACP now moves into the public comment phase.

The commission also approved projects for:

  • Alva Regional Airport: New Jet A fuel system. Total cost: $652,972; ODAA share: $300,000.
  • Bartlesville Municipal Airport: New taxiway for large hangar development area. Total cost: $2.026M; ODAA share: $1.18 million.
  • South Grand Lake Regional Airport: Land acquisition. Total cost: $205,500; ODAA share: $195,225.

    Hmmmm… I wonder if these are windfall funds from the “Build Back Better” initiative…?

    Regardless states DO NEED to repair/replace aging/deteriorating aviation civil infrastructure: pavements/over-runs, buildings, towers, lighting, communication systems, signage, etc…
