What do avionics technicians need to know?

By General Aviation News Staff · May 9, 2024 ·

A new survey has launched to help revise the aircraft electronics technician standard.

According to officials with the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA), the avionics industry has “evolved and expanded dramatically over the last 20 years.”

“The aircraft electronics technician standard will be revised to reflect the needs of the industry, providing a more accurate assessment of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of today’s and tomorrow’s technicians,” officials said.

But before the standards can be revised by ASTM International, the organization needs the input of the aviation community.

Those interested are asked to fill out a six-question survey which will help identify fundamentals and areas of proficiencies entry-level avionics technicians should have.
