Introduction to Multiengine Airplanes video debuts

By General Aviation News Staff · May 15, 2024 ·

In collaboration with Sporty’s Pilot Shop, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Air Safety Institute (ASI) has released the first of five videos in its new Taming the Twin series.

“Taming the Twin: Introduction to Multiengine Airplanes presents the essentials of what’s involved in flying a multiengine airplane,” said ASI Vice President of Operations Paul Deres. “In addition, this first video discusses multiengine airplane intricacies, and it lays the groundwork for understanding the significance of single-engine operations and emergencies unique to multiengine flying.”

“We are glad to have this opportunity to collaborate with the AOPA Air Safety Institute to offer critical, safety-related content from Sporty’s Multiengine Training Course, free of charge,” added Sporty’s Senior Vice President Bret Koebbe. “We trust this series will help pilots — whether new to multiengine flying or multiengine rated but rusty — grasp important fundamentals that are key to safely operating a multiengine airplane.”

The series’ remaining videos are scheduled to be released one at a time in the upcoming months. They cover single-engine operations, engine failure during takeoff, engine failure during cruise, and engine failure in IMC.
