For years I’ve heard from readers asking if I can help them find a story from our archives.
Until now, my standard response was to invite them to my home to look through our print archives for the story they seek.
No one has taken me up on the offer.
And now, they won’t need to.
All issues from our print archives dating back to 1959 — except one — are now available digitally on our website.
The lone issue missing is dated Aug. 12, 1968. If you have a copy of The Northwest Flyer with that date on the cover, please give me a call at 800-426-8538 x2.
Today, the name of this publication is General Aviation News. Prior names included General Aviation News & Flyer, Western Flyer, Northwest Flyer, and The Northwest Flyer. There may be others, but I don’t recall.
If you point your web browser to https://generalaviationnews.com/digital-archives you will see a grid of images of newspaper covers. They are broken down by decade. Each decade gallery can be expanded and contracted.
When you click on a cover you will be taken to Dropbox where you will see a PDF that you can either scroll through or download to your computer.
If you enjoy poking through our archives be sure to tell yourself “Thanks Deb.” Deb’s my wonderful wife and she spent hours upon hours scanning decades of newspapers.
In fact, it would be wise for me to express my gratitude.
Thanks Deb. Because of you, our library is open for business.
Thank you Deb for your work to make this possible. Ben, keep on writing now.
Deb, thank you for your fantastic job. I greatly appreciate your work. Your Husband is a super writer and a fun read. I enjoy his writing and point of view. His work is entertaining, informative, and a fun read. However I believe your work has outdone him with many hours of very fun reading, THANK YOU. No offense Ben!
None taken Corkey. 🙂
What a treasure trove. Your aviation sainthood is assured!
Thank you, Deb and Ben. Will pass along to our chapter media coordinator.
