First Tecnam P-Mentors delivered to US flight school

By General Aviation News Staff · June 8, 2024 ·

One month after receiving FAA Type Certification, the first Tecnam P-Mentors have been delivered to a flight school in Texas.

Designed specifically for flight training, the two-seat P-Mentor is powered by the Rotax 912isC3 engine and features the Garmin G3X IFR touch screen suite.

The P-Mentor offers a low fuel consumption of 3.7 gph allowing for all-day training without having to stop for refueling, reducing costs as well as ground and operational interruptions, according to officials with the Italy-based company.

“Today marks not only a monumental day for Tecnam but also for our flight program in partnership with Stephen F. Austin University,” said Kristen Conklin, president of HCH Aviation, a flight school in Nacogdoches, Texas, which provides professional pilot training as part of the university aviation flight training initiative.

Along with the delivery of the aircraft, a maintenance and familiarization course was provided to the technicians and pilots, Tecnam officials noted.
