iFly EFB Aviation Tablet introduced

Adventure Pilot has introduced the iFly EFB Aviation Tablet, an Android device tailored for the aviation industry.

The device is designed for use in bright sunlight and will not shut down in high heat, making it ideal for general aviation or drone applications, according to company officials.

Features include:

  • A 7-inch sunlight-readable screen
  • Rugged construction designed to withstand the challenging conditions of the cockpit
  • Pre-loaded with iFly EFB software, including charts, airport information, airspace details, and more
  • With the optional Docking Station or using a Bluetooth wireless device, the iFly EFB Aviation Tablet can send data to your autopilot, fuel computer, or compatible EFIS
  • The tablet can function as a primary navigation tool or a backup
  • With 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of Flash storage, the tablet features built-in GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity for in-flight and ground communications
  • A 5000mAh battery supports up to five hours of uninterrupted use even at full screen brightness
  • A 5 MP front camera and a 16 MP rear camera allows pilots to capture and share their aerial experiences

    I have simple needs for a GPS-moving map tablet. So, I use an 8 inch, $90 Android tablet and run the free Avare vfr chart software. [ updates are also free ]
    It gives me a backup on heading and altitude, and gives the only data on ground speed, vs pilotage and timing between check points.
    BTW, I also still fly with a paper chart with my route marked and my initial descent point marked….it avoids the ‘chop and drop’ situations.

    So, $800+ seems a bit expensive, plus a $95 annual subscription..!
