State and FAA officials have unveiled the Pennsylvania Aviation Economic Impact Calculator.
Created by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Aviation (BOA), the calculator uses data from the state’s Aviation Economic Impact Study, which was released in 2022, but uses information collected in 2019.
Searching each individual airport in the state on the calculator will show the economic impact of an airport based on activity in three areas: Airport administration (including capital expenditures), airport tenants, and visitor spending.
The calculator allows officials at Pennsylvania’s 120 public-use airports to calculate updated impacts for their facility based on changes in airport activity, business tenants, and visitor spending. The calculator produces estimates of economic impact, including employment, payroll, and output.
It also allows pilots and aircraft owners to see the economic impact of their home airports. For instance, a quick search of Arnold Palmer Regional Airport (KLBE) shows 1,151 jobs, with a total economic impact of $203,907,500.
