Aviation battery line introduced

magniX has introduced Samson, an aviation battery line.

Combining Samson batteries with magniX’s electric engines provides pilots with an electric powertrain, according to officials with the Everett, Washington-based company.

The first battery to be released is the magniX Samson300.

According to company officials, features include:

  • Energy density of 300 Watt hours per kilogram (Wh/kg)
  • Battery cycle life of over 1,000 full-depth discharge cycles
  • Patented safety technologies, including cell level protections from thermal runaway and ability to store batteries for long periods at zero charge
  • Integrated power electronics and distribution system for better power management supply to the propulsion system
