International winning entry from Jihyeon (Elly) Han, First Place, ages 14-17.

The National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) reports that three young Americans took top spots in the International Young Artist Contest, sponsored by FAI, the World Air Sports Federation.

The 2024 theme, “Air Sports for a Peaceful World,” encouraged students to create artwork demonstrating how air sports can unite people of different backgrounds, form friendships, and make the world a better place.

Artists from several countries, including China, Egypt, France, India, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Qatar, Oman, Poland, Pakistan, Serbia, Thailand, and the USA submitted entries.

The entry from Eric Shen, Second Place, ages 6-9.

USA winners include:

  • Jihyeon (Elly) Han, First Place, ages 14-17
  • Eric Shen, Second Place, ages 6-9
  • Iris Xie, Third Place, ages 10-13

The international art contest is held annually with a theme that aims to inspire interest in aviation among youth by providing them with a space to express their ideas through art, according to FAI officials.

In 2024, more than 150 entries were submitted by United States artists to the National Aeronautic Association and NASAO. Officials with those organizations choose the best to compete internationally.
