By General Aviation News Staff · August 21, 2024 · 1 Comment

Piper Aircraft’s M700 FURY has received FAA approval for unpaved field operations.

The new certification broadens the aircraft’s operational capabilities, according to company officials.

Piper Aircraft is progressing with several international validations for the M700 at both the aircraft level and for unimproved field operations. Those validations will expand the versatility and utility of the Piper M700 FURY, according to company officials, who note that international deliveries will begin in the third quarter of 2024.

Certified in March 2024, The Piper M700 FURY comes standard with the HALO Safety System, featuring the Garmin Emergency Autoland. The G3000 avionics suite also includes Autothrottle, Emergency Descent Mode, Electronic Stability Protection (ESP), SurfaceWatch, SafeTaxi, and Garmin PlaneSync. Beyond the flight deck, the six-seat M700 FURY is powered by a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-52 700 shp engine. The aircraft has a maximum cruise speed of 301 ktas, a max range of 1852 nm, and a standard useful load of 2,320 pounds.

So, what is involved in “unpaved field” certification?
Is that an actual certification, as in without it you’re illegal to land on, say, Triple Tree?
Or is it a marketing gimmick? Not being snarky, I am truly curious.
