Airport Courtesy Cars, a website that list more than 2,000 courtesy cars available at airports nationwide for general aviation pilots, has been upgraded.
The site now also lists airport cafes, mogas locations, and more, as well as hundreds of photographs from users, according to founder Glenn Brasch.
The idea for the service was born in 2014 when Glenn flew his newly completed RV-9A with his son to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.
“Before I left I searched for car locations on my route from Arizona just in case,” he recalled. “I found none.”
When he returned home from Oshkosh, he reached out to various forums and groups to compile a list of courtesy cars available for general aviation pilots.
“I quickly had more than 700 listings,” he said.
At first, the information was available on an app, but Glenn later converted it to a completely web-based service to make it easier for all pilots to access the information.
Several upgrades of the website followed, including the most recent one, where the information is displayed in a blog format, he explained.
Glenn added that he has “spent a lot of time” updating older listings with information from users.
Besides all the other information available on the site, Glenn recommends checking out the comments from pilots, “which can be quite entertaining,” he said.
He also noted that the continued success of the site depends on donations from users.
