Spartan Education Group , an aviation education institution headquartered in Chicago that has been training pilots and aviation maintenance technicians for nearly a century, has partnered with Atlas Air to open the Atlas Cadet Academy.

The initiative is designed to prepare aspiring aviators for first officer positions with Atlas Air, one of the largest 747 operators in the world, serving both cargo and passenger needs, according to Spartan officials.

The Atlas Cadet Academy will train pilots at Spartan’s location at Dupage Airport (KDPA) in West Chicago.

Spartan Education Group also operates McAir Aviation flight school in Broomfield, Colorado, and Illinois Aviation Academy at KDPA. The company, which acquired Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in 2012, also trains pilots and technicians at the college’s four campuses in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Riverside, California, Los Angeles, and Denver.
