ASA releases new app for mechanics, updates pilot apps

By General Aviation News Staff · September 13, 2024 · Leave a Comment

Aviation Supplies & Academics (ASA) has released a new app for aviation mechanics to help them prepare for the FAA Aviation Mechanic General, Airframe, and Powerplant Oral & Practical exams.

Similar to ASA check ride apps for pilots, the Aviation Mechanic O&P app prepares students to demonstrate their skill and knowledge of the required elements outlined in the FAA Airman Certification Standards (FAA-S-ACS-1). The oral and practical (O&P) exams, administered by a designated mechanic evaluator (DME), evaluate if the candidate possesses the knowledge, risk management, and skill level needed to be issued an FAA Aviation Mechanic Certificate, ASA officials explain.

In addition to the new app, three of ASA’s check ride apps for pilots (Instrument, Multi-engine, and Helicopter) have been updated to comply with the Airman Certification Standards. The Flight Review app contains new author updates, and the TH-67 Flashcards app for helicopter pilots has been updated for iOS compatibility.

All of ASA’s check ride apps feature a flashcard format to study the questions, supported with appropriate answers, most likely to be asked by examiners during the last step in the pilot certification process — the practical exam.

You can download ASA apps from your favorite provider.
