Aircraft Specialities Services has received FAA approval to rebuild and repair Lycoming Roller Lifters (LRT 23381).
Lycoming began using roller lifters in 2005. The roller lifter is intended to improve durability of the tappet-camshaft interface. Anecdotal benefits include a smoother running engine, longer part life, and some owners report an increase in performance, according to company officials.
Roller lifters are a mandatory overhaul item, officials added.
New Lycoming roller lifters from Aircraft Specialties Services cost $615.61. Reconditioned roller tappets cost $293.
“Some owners are opting to make changes to go back to an engine with conventional flat tappets at overhaul to avoid the high cost of replacement,” said Eric Anderson, general manager of Aircraft Specialties Services. “This ‘going backwards’ is no longer necessary.”
Aircraft Specialties Services can either repair or exchange Lycoming roller lifters.
