The T3 AirLite is the newest in the line of T3 tailwheels from Lincolnville, Maine’s Supercubs North.
It weighs just three-and-one-half pounds and works with most aircraft up to 1,550 pounds gross weight.
According to Supercubs North’s Dan Dufault, the T3 AirLite is 38% lighter than a regular three leaf spring tailwheel.
On a Carbon Cub, “by keeping the CG at a constant location, and removing three pounds at the tail, it would allow you to add nine extra gallons of fuel or 15 extra pounds of baggage,” noted Dufault.

The T3 AirLite uses a snubber bumper to limit the suspension travel in the event of a hard landing. Its light weight is attributed to a truss suspension swing art made of 7076 T651 aluminum, titanium bold hardware, and a custom made high pressure adjustable air shock.
There are no plans to certify the T3 Air Lite. It will be offered for experimental use only at this time, company officials noted.
Cost is $995.
