Fargo Air Museum boosts collection with two new aircraft

FARGO, N.D. — The Fargo Air Museum is set to receive two new aircraft for display throughout the winter.

While both are World War II era aircraft, the Boeing-Stearman N2S-3 trainer and 1942 Interstate Cadet highlight different parts of aviation history, the latter being represented in over 400 air shows across the United States as one of Kent Pietsch’s Jelly Belly aerobatic performance aircraft, according to museum officials.

The Stearman landed at the museum Nov. 13 and remains on display on temporary loan until April 2025. It was assigned to the Naval Air Station Minneapolis during World War II, at the same time the late former President George H.W. Bush was in flight training.

The Jelly Belly Interstate Cadet arrived Nov. 19 in true air show style. Kent Pietsch performed one of his signature acts, landing the Jelly Belly aircraft atop a Jelly Belly truck.

At 6:30 p.m., Pietsch sat down with Max Sabin, the museum’s Collections Manager, for a public interview about his flying career followed by an open Q&A session.
