New tailwheel STC’d for Cessna 170, Bird Dog

Cessna 170 series and L19 305A Bird Dog owners have a new STC’d option for their tailwheel. The T3 Twin-Shock Tailwheel Suspension earned a Supplemental Type Certificate from the FAA on Nov. 22, 2024.

The twin-shock system replaces conventional leaf spring tailwheels. The coil-over spring assembly, equipped with oil shocks, absorbs energy on landing and reduces fuselage stress, according to company officials.

The T3 Twin-Shock Tailwheel Suspension is priced at $995. The STC is sold separately for $250. Both are sold exclusively via the Alaska Gear Company.
