New Piper PA-34 Seneca type club takes off

By Ben Sclair · December 29, 2024 · Leave a Comment

Brad Wolansky has launched the PA-34 Owners Organization, the first type-specific group for owners of the Piper PA-34 Seneca.

This twin-engine light aircraft, introduced in 1971, has been a favorite among pilots for its reliability and versatility.

“I started the Seneca type group a couple months ago simply because for such a beloved model, no type group existed before,” Wolansky explained.

The organization includes a new website and a dedicated forum where members can exchange information, tips, and organize events.

“The forums require registration but are free to all,” he added.

Piper manufactured 5,037 Senecas, and about 999 are registered in the U.S., according to Wolansky. He estimates there are another 2,000 to 3,000 flying worldwide, often in flight schools.

His goal is to bring as many active Seneca owners into the fold as possible.

“Once we get a critical mass of owner/operators, the forum discussion will increase, and hopefully we can create a library of topics,” Wolansky said.

Topics include training, maintenance, and common issues like the stabilator bolt problem, and proper weight and balance planning, he explained.

The organization has already gained support from a few sponsors. Wolansky is seeking additional sponsors to cover hosting costs, keeping the group free for members.

Beyond virtual discussions, Wolansky aims to foster real-world connections.

“I’d like to find all the Seneca owners in Florida and organize a fly-in breakfast or lunch,” he said.
