Robinson Helicopter Company has added three new training courses for 2025.

In addition to the current safety courses and Instructor Pilot (IP) standardization courses, there will be an R66 Transition Course, Avionics and Autopilot Familiarization Course, and Post-Maintenance Procedure Course, according to company officials.

About the new courses, according to company officials:

  • R66 Transition Training Course: This five-day course is designed to prepare pilots for the safe and efficient operation of the Robinson R66 helicopter, providing an in-depth understanding of its systems and flight characteristics.
  • Avionics and Autopilot Familiarization Course: This one-and-a-half-day course will focus on building practical knowledge and confidence in operating, troubleshooting, and fully utilizing autopilot and avionics technology to enhance safety and efficiency during flights.
  • Post-Maintenance Procedure Course: This two-day course will equip pilots with the knowledge and skills needed to conduct post-maintenance flights safely and effectively through theory and hands-on practice.

“We’re looking forward to expanding and offering these courses not only at our factory in Torrance, California, but all around the world as well for our operators,” said Randall Schaffer, vice president of customer success. “In today’s world, training is critical to learning how to operate and maintain the aircraft.”

Additionally, in response to customer feedback, Robinson Helicopter has also increased flight hours for pilots who attend the Safety Course, leading to more time in the aircraft, officials said.

The inaugural classes will kick off in April 2025.
