GE Aerospace’s Catalyst turboprop engine has been certified by the FAA.
According to company officials, the Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 33 certification involved more than 23 engines and more than 190 component tests, with engines completing more than 8,000 hours of operation.
Company officials add that the Catalyst, a new centerline, clean-sheet design, is the first turboprop engine to be certified to the latest standards, which include more than 20 new requirements.
The engine will debut on the Beechcraft Denali, which is expected to be certified in 2025.
