2025 Aviation Art Contest winners named

By General Aviation News Staff · March 25, 2025 · Leave a Comment

Senior First Place: Soyoon Kim, 14, North Carolina

The National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) and the National Aeronautic Association (NAA) have announced the winners of the 2025 U.S. Youth Aviation Art Contest.

According to officials, more than 140 pieces of artwork were received from nearly half of the country’s states and territories for the annual contest, which is part of an international contest conducted by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI).

Contest submissions are grouped into three age categories for judging, allowing students ranging from 6 to 17 years old to compete.

The 2025 theme “Women with Wings” encouraged students to create artwork inspired by the daring women who have defied society’s expectations, taking to the air and proving that the sky is a place for everyone, officials noted.

Senior Second Place: Lalitha, 14, Virginia

“It’s exciting for those of us in the aviation industry to see the talent and effort these young people put into their entries,” said Greg Pecoraro, NASAO President and CEO. “We hope their passion for art and aeronautics inspires them to always be aware of the role aviation plays in our lives. It may or may not lead them to careers in aviation, but this art will certainly capture the imagination of others who may decide to follow that path.”

Senior Third Place: Catherine Park, 16, North Carolina

To qualify for the national contest, all artwork was first submitted to state-level competitions, with the winning entries advancing for national consideration. Judging on the national level was based on artistic ability and portrayal of theme.

The national winners have been submitted for the 2025 International Aviation Art Contest, which will be judged in June by the FAI.
