The American Airpower Museum (AAM) has slated four events in 2025 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, offering flights in the museum’s C-47 Skytrain “Second Chance.”
“Our flights are an excellent way to teach present day Americans what it was like to participate in an actual combat mission during World War II,” museum officials said.
The 2025 flights are scheduled for May 3, June 28, Sept. 6, and Oct. 4.
AAM’s Living History Flight Experience is an immersive educational program, where historians join passengers in the C-47 as re-enactors, to give a sense of what 101st and 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers felt on D-Day.
Three flights are set for each date, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., with a fourth in case of extra demand. Seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Cost for each C-47 flight is $375. A flight experience entitles you to bring an additional person who can watch the flights take off and land, plus visit the museum’s exhibits free of charge.

The museum is located at the former site of Republic Aviation at Republic Airport (KFRG) in Farmingdale, New York. It maintains a collection of aviation artifacts and an array of aircraft spanning the years of the aircraft factory’s history.
