Iowa community college to launch new aviation degree

By General Aviation News Staff · June 22, 2025 · Leave a Comment

North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) will launch its new Aviation Professional Pilot Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in the fall of 2025.

Delivered in partnership with North Iowa Air Service, the program is a five-semester curriculum that combines classroom instruction at NIACC with hands-on lab and flight training at Mason City Municipal Airport (KMCW).

“This program is an incredible opportunity for students passionate about aviation to turn their dreams into reality,” said Laura Wood, Dean of Agriculture and Skilled Trades. “By offering both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, we’re setting our graduates up for success in one of the most exciting and rewarding industries out there.”

Enrollment for the program is now open, with classes set to begin in August 2025.
