When we walked around to push the plane back into the parking spot we noticed the last 36 inches of the wing was missing. It fell off where the screws attached the last fiber glass pieces. No screws are missing and it looked like the fiber glass tore off around the holes for the screws.
ASRS Reports
Lack of situational awareness causes near miss
It is known at my flight school that this airport has had many problems with general aviation pilots being unsafe.
Close call for training flight
I had my head down writing the altimeter on my iPad and, all of a sudden, my instructor snatched the yoke and made a hard left to avoid this aircraft that was coming at us from out sorta left.
Near miss in the pattern
If we had continued downwind as normal, Aircraft Y would have hit us.
Truck vs. Cessna 172
My student was clearly shaken from this incident, but I turned it into a lesson on abort procedures and instances that you may encounter beyond your own aircraft.
Aircraft problems scuttle check ride
Student B debated about continuing the check ride. He was nervous about the left engine failing. We concluded that it was vapor lock that caused the left engine to quit. He finally decided to discontinue the flight portion.
Training flight cuts off another airplane in the pattern
On final, I still did not see any traffic, but it is likely the conflicting aircraft was directly below us. The aircraft executed a 360 turn towards the north away from our position before re-entering the final approach. In addition to not seeing the traffic, the traffic did not appear on ADS-B.
Pilot’s unclear intentions create havoc in the pattern
He seemed very upset and argumentative saying his intentions were to land at the airport. He continued to try to enter the pattern but then continued to do circles around the area at very low altitudes.
NORDO pilot chastised by helicopter pilot
After pushing my aircraft into a hangar, the helicopter pilot came over clearly angry that I had landed with no radio and that he didn’t know where I was.
