I’m always amazed at how the local FBO cheerfully brings its truck over and puts six gallons or so in our tanks after pumping a few thousand gallons into a Gulfstream or Global Express.”

I arrived in Petersburg at Lloyd R Roundtree Seaplane Facility (63A) in Alaska to pick up a southbound charter passenger for Ketchikan, just as the Scott was departing his own base on a charter elsewhere. Summer time in Southeast Alaska can be a real busy flying time, if the weather cooperates. We are moving around remote lodge guests, US Forest Service rental cabin campers, mining and exploration teams, fishermen, and government personnel, just to name a few. I love the energy of it, and the missions are different every day.”

Andrew Hesketh submitted this photo and note: “Flying my 1968 Beechcraft Bonanza V35A in late January 2022 from Spirit of St. Louis Airport (KSUS) to Litchfield Municipal Airport (3LF) in Illinois, for annual inspection. Flying north from Spirit of St. Louis Airport you cross over the Mississippi River near Grafton, Illinois, and I captured the breaking of a cold winter dawn over the river. The sun breaking through the clouds was spectacular!”

Kevin Wolley submitted this photo and note: “I landed at Portland-Hillsboro Airport (KHIO) in Oregon in the red and white Cessna 172 and taxied to the FBO for fuel. Much to my surprise, a B-17 and a Bf-109 were on the ramp, staged for an air show at the nearby Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, home of the Spruce Goose, in McMinnville. I found this delightful view of my modest mount from the shadow of the bomber, and reflected on the airmen of World War II who were my boyhood heroes, and moved me to 25 years of flying at FedEx.”

He loves everything airplane and aviation and is a ‘good stick.’ This allows ‘Pop’ to sip coffee while those access panels come off.”
