Roby Denman submitted these photos and a note: “I was fortunate to fly Crazy Horse 1 at Stallion 51 in Kissimmee, Florida, with Ed Shipley on a previous visit. On this subsequent visit I asked if I could bring my 1947 PA-12 into the hangar for some pictures with Crazy Horse 1 and Crazy Horse 2 and they were very accommodating — to me and my Cub, the best and most fun plane I’ve ever owned. My thanks for wonderful memories! Next goal: Some time with Lee Lauderback in Crazy Horse 2.”

Just before arriving there I passed the snow-covered Round Top Peak (just to the left of the wing tip). It was a nice, calm, sunny day in California.”

Kurt Winker submitted this photo and note: “I was doing a test flight in my homebuilt over Mid Valley Airpark (E98) in Los Lunas, New Mexico. Very dark skies and nasty thunderstorms slowly approached from the west. On CTAF, I heard a flight of Cubs slowly approached from the southeast. We all landed before the storm got here and I learned that they were trying to get further west that day, but the weather wouldn’t allow that. We parked them all at my place (surrounding the world’s oldest Cherokee 235). They spent the night at my place and we told stories and got to know each other. The next morning, they continued their journey. Most of us still keep in touch years later! To new friends!”

This aircraft flew the Hump in World War II, then went on to serve as the corporate aircraft for Johnson & Johnson. You can imagine it sitting on the ramp in Assam, India, waiting for its crew to take on the challenges of a Himalayan crossing.”
