By Janice Wood · August 4, 2006 ·

Ever wish you could play on the same golf course as the professionals? You can, at North Carolina’s Pinehurst Resort, site of the 2005 U.S. Open Championship. The 2,000-acre resort, which boasts eight championship golf courses, is just one of three U.S. Open sites open to the public, according to Janeen Driscoll, communications manager. And […]

Crowd Stopper, Jerry Sater’s Wilga attracts attention whereever it lands

By Meg Godlewski · August 4, 2006 ·

If there was one owner whose plane got a lot of quizzical stares at the Northwest EAA Fly-In at Arlington, Wash., this year, it was Jerry T. Sater of Kettle Falls, Wash. Sater’s bright green Wilga was a rarity among the line of homebuilt and vintage machines. Sater had barely landed before curious pilots surrounded […]

By Meg Godlewski · August 4, 2006 ·

You can tell a lot about the flying habits of a pilot by the kind of aircraft he or she owns. For example, one look at Christopher Desmond’s Zenith CH 701 and you would probably surmise that he’s a pilot who likes to head for the back country where riverbanks are the runways and the […]

The A-170 Video Lightsign measures 170 feet long, 55 feet high and 46 feet wide, and sports a 70 foot-by-30 foot LED screen. The picture streams from […]

The Buzzzzzzzzzzzz

By General Aviation News Staff · August 4, 2006 ·

“We need to speak with one voice and quit picking on one another, and then maybe we’d get somewhere.” — Alan Klapmeier, co-founder, Cirrus Design Corp. “When you buy a new airplane from a new company, you’re buying a part of the company in some respects.” — Dr. Gerard Kenney, who just bought an Adam […]

Do you recognize this plane?

By General Aviation News Staff · August 4, 2006 ·

Pilots may forget their anniversaries or the birthdays of their children, but there is very little chance they will forget the airplanes they have owned over the years. Ed Cashmere is banking on that as he tries to find the story behind the art on the tail of his 1953 Piper Tripacer. On the tail […]
