Applications now being taken for Upwind scholarship program

By General Aviation News Staff · January 22, 2015 ·

SAN CARLOS, Calif. — Applications are now available for the Upwind Summer Scholarship Program, now in its third year of operation.

Upwind aims to transform a high school student into a private pilot during the summer between their junior and senior year.

Upwind selects high school students and awards them a scholarship that includes everything they need to earn a private pilot certificate. This includes ground and flight training, as well as all the necessary books, charts, and basic flight planning tools.

Additionally, the scholarship recipient will receive mentorship and guidance from other pilots, and enjoy many other social and flying activities.

The 2015 program winner will be selected in March and will begin ground training in April with flight training beginning in June.

The deadline to apply is Feb. 27, 2015. Download the application at UpwindScholarship.com.
