A new use for all those air show T-shirts

By Janice Wood · September 4, 2009 ·

At the Cecil Field Airshow 2009 in Jacksonville, Fla., a quilt was displayed as an auction item to benefit the Alan Henley Foundation, formed after Henley, the flight leader of the AeroShell Aerobatic Team, was injured in a fall in his home.

The April show was organized by his many friends in the air show community, raising more than $130,000 to help Henley and his family with their medical bills and living expenses.

Quilt auctioned for Henley Foundation The quilt, coordinated by Devan Norris of Port Orange, Fla., was auctioned off for $5,000.

There was such a great response to the quilt that Norris is planning to coordinate the creation of two more quilts to auction off for charity.

If you have any performer or air show T-shirts and wish to donate to this project, you can contact Norris at [email protected].
