    hello,
being the only son, out of four and three daughters, of L.R. “Pete” Collins, who doesn’t fly, I thought you might be interested in what was at the time, late forties until 1960, the most advanced dc3.
the call sign was n54333 and my father flew that plane many times to europe and beyond for the elite of republic aviation (p-47, f84, f105), with flight engineer Dick Watson, and Co pilot George. I am so sorry but after all these years I have lost George’s last name.
this particular aircraft had radar, ship to shore phone, wheel covers, and wing tanks, just to mention a few.
one interesting thing was the demise of this aircraft and reassigning the call sign to a Boeing 727 that also crashed.
the Dakota was sold to Cuba in 1960 and crashed on first flight into Cuba.
just something that may interest republic history buffs.
    thank you
