Scheyden Precision Eyewear, which produces lenses and frames for aviators, has struck a partnership with renowned eyewear and optics designer Patrick Hussey, who will oversee product development beginning with the brand’s 2011 collection.
Hussey’s more than 20 years of industry experience includes serving as president of Persol North America, developing a patented, integrated goggle/helmet system for K2, and holding key management positions for Vuarnet-France and Revo. He also co-founded the action sports eyewear brands Spy Optic and V2 Optic. In 2005, Hussey formed the Azzurra Concepts consultancy focused on providing a wide array of design, development, branding and sourcing services to the premium optic, sport, entertainment and military/tactical industries.
Scheyden’s product line includes Composite Hybrids, titanium-frame Fixed Gear collection, Classic FlipUp styles and Dual RX designs for prescription users. The sunglasses are a favorite of military, commercial, private and aerobatic pilots — including the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and Redbull Air Race star Pete McLeod.
Retailing from $259 to $445, Scheyden Precision Eyewear is available at better commercial aviation and custom eyewear retailers.
