Filmmaker Adam White has released “The Restorers” for digital download. Originally released on DVD in 2003, “The Restorers” is a one-hour documentary about Warbird and vintage aircraft restorers. For more than 10 months the documentary’s Cleveland-based crew traveled nationwide to film those involved in aircraft restoration, including stops in Fargo, North Dakota, Cleveland, Dayton, Indianapolis, El Paso, Reno, and Kitty Hawk. Filmmakers interviewed a wide range of restorers from local tinkerers to generals and astronauts. Legends from the restoration community appear in the film, including Gerry Beck, Robert Odegaard, and Steve Hinton, White said.
After its 2003 DVD release, “The Restorers” went on to screen in the U.S. on PBS and overseas on Discovery Europe. In 2004, “The Restorers” won a regional Emmy award for Best Special Program after its initial PBS screening.
“The Restorers” is now available for video streaming at AirShowBuzz.tv for $9.95
The documentary is now spinning off a television series of the same name, according to White. “The Restorers” series will have one-hour episodes, each with a different theme from the aviation community. Filming and fundraising has already begun, with plans for a nationwide release on PBS in early 2012.
