Senator takes remedial training after landing on closed runway

By Janice Wood · February 15, 2011 ·

The FAA will not to pursue legal action against U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe for landing on a closed runway and instead allowed the Oklahoma Republican to take a remedial training program, according to a story in the Tulsa World. Inhofe has completed the training — given by a former flight student of his — while the incident will be on his record for two years. According to the newspaper report, Inhofe remains convinced he did nothing wrong when he landed on the runway at Port Isabel-Cameron County Airport in Texas, even though there were Xs on the runway and construction equipment.
