The long-awaited reauthorization of the FAA may have to wait even longer, according to a Dow Jones news report, that notes Congress may push back consideration of the bill as negotiators haggle over funding levels and other contentious provisions. The report quotes House Transportation Committee Chairman John Mica, who said he remains hopeful the bill will be passed by month’s end. But Mica said Congress may have to pass a short-term extension of the current FAA law to buy more time for negotiations. It would be the 19th short-term extension passed to keep the agency running.
