Houston’s 1940 Air Terminal Museum at Hobby Airport will give away a vintage 1957 Cessna 172 in a live raffle drawing on July 16. The drawing will be the culmination of a year-long fundraiser and will be the museum’s fourth airplane give away.
Museum president Drew Coats explained, “This raffle has turned into one of our museum’s most important fundraisers. Raffle participants help us ensure that the museum remains financially self-sufficient and healthy. It is also a great opportunity for someone to win their very own plane.”
The museum is selling no more than 2,500 tickets at $50 each. Tickets will remain on sale through noon July 15. All proceeds from the raffle go to help the 501(c)(3) non-profit museum fund its operations. The museum has flown the raffle plane to air shows and events around Texas and hopes to announce its next airplane raffle shortly after the drawing.
The 1940 Air Terminal Museum is located at 8325 Travelair Street, on the west side of Hobby Airport, and is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. The 1940 Air Terminal Museum is operated by the Houston Aeronautical Heritage Society, a Texas non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
